About Us
Atlantic Coast Home Care
Agency, Inc. (ACHC) was founded on
September 16, 2006 by Dr. Carlton Thornton, Agency Director/Owner. ACHC
is a fairly new company with a big future. They offer quality services
for those in need of professional home care, with around the clock
services by their more then 200, well trained and friendly Certified
Nursing Assistants and Personal Care Aides. They offer companion care,
new mother care, personal care, transportation, errand runs, light
housekeeping, medical assistance, meal preparation, outpatient care,
medication reminders and much more.
As a new Home Care Agency in October 2006, Dr. Thornton’s focus was on Medicaid Clients. But as the business has developed he’s branched out to serve Veterans Administration (VA), Private Pay, Community Alternative Program (CAP-DA) and Private Insurance. ACHC currently serves Mecklenburg and 17 other surrounding North Carolina Counties. ACHC is a member of the Better Business Bureau and the Association of Home and Hospice Care.
Home Care is supportive care provided in the patient’s home by caregivers who give informal care. Often, the term home care is used to distinguish non-medical care or custodial care, which is care that is provided by persons who are not nurses, doctors, or other licensed medical personnel. Home care aims to make it possible for people to remain at home rather than use residential, long-term, or institutional-based nursing care. Home Care providers render services in the client’s own home. These services may include some combination of professional health care services and life assistance services.
Life assistance services
include help with daily tasks such as Meal Preparation, Medication
reminders, Laundry, Light housekeeping, Errands, Shopping,
Transportation, and Companionship. Activities of daily living (ADLs)
refers to six activities (bathing, dressing, mobility, feeding,
toileting, and incontinence) that reflect the patient’s capacity for
self-care.
